Best Dressed Awards

Believe it or not, Halloween pretty much ranks last on my list of favorite holidays. This might be hard to believe after seeing how many times this month we got into the spirit of dressing up. But we sure had a blast dressing up for different events these past few weeks. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, I promise to keep my words short, because I have about a thousand pictures.

I decided to award each picture with a "BEST __________" Here goes...

"BEST MASKED CHILDREN"

(Seriously, y'all. These masks were only $1 each at Target. How fun is that?)

"BEST AWANA THEME NIGHT COSTUMES"

This year's AWANA theme night was "come as your favorite missionary" night. The kids both went as "Jonah - the missionary to Nineveh." Seaweed and swallowed by a whale - gotta love it! (However, I must admit - the kids totally took these costumes off the very second we walked in the door to AWANA. Ugh.)

"BEST FANCY LADY"

No doubt, you'll be seeing more photos like this one after a "princess tea party" birthday event planned for a special little girl this next week.


"BEST CHEAP 'COSTUME'"

Yes. Those are plastic sacks. The kids put them on and played for hours.

"BEST POWER RANGER"

Jonah has the pose just right.

"BEST MERMAID"

Hannah's cuteness factor is like a million and something. I think she might know it too.

"BEST BIKER DUDE"

Check out those tattoo sleeves. Joey's office dresses up for Halloween. I mean, really, who wouldn't want a biker dude as their dentist?

"BEST SARAH PALIN"

Yeah. That's me. I pulled that one off. I am not sure I can give myself an award, but I just did.

"BEST SUPPORTIVE HUSBAND"

My man carried that doll, stood by my side and played the role of Todd Palin all evening. He even posed for pictures when at least 3 perfect strangers asked if they could take our picture.

All those costumes were nice, but the best overall costume would have to go to my mom and dad. They surprised us all and dressed up tonight for a fun little gathering at my sister's house.

"BEST OVERALL COSTUMES"

The picture on the left is of my parents leaving for their honeymoon (35 years ago). The picture on the right is their costume tonight. HOW CRAZY COOL IS THAT? My mom totally rocks for being able to fit in that dress after 35 years. (Can I just say a prayer right now, that I inherit her genes? - Please, Lord!) Let me give a huge "shout out" to my crazy fun parents. Whoo Hoo!!

"BEST "SUPRISE!" COSTUME"

Can you read what her shirt says? YEP. That's right. Kyle and Vanessa announced they are expecting baby #3 sometime in June! I had to wait to post this picture until some of the "official" announcements were made, but this costume really does take the prize for the night. We can't wait to welcome the next baby Jones into the world!
