Jonah's answer has always been "a fighter pilot" when someone asks him that question. A couple weeks ago, Joey took Jonah to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum and they had a blast. I love the face he is making in this first picture:
Last night, Joey put Jonah to bed. When he came downstairs, he told me a little about the conversation he had with Jonah before Jonah drifted off to sleep. It went something like this:
Joey: "Yep."
Jonah: (thoughtfully) "I think I want to be a dentist too and I want to work with you in your office."
Joey: "That would be great, Jonah. It would be a lot of fun if you wanted to work with me someday. But you know you can be anything you want to be."
Jonah: "I want to be a dentist like you. How much longer will I have to go to school to be a dentist?"
Joey: "Well, you are in Kindergarten now. Next year you will be in first grade, then second, then third, then fourth, then fifth, then sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, eleventh and twelfth. After that you will have to attend college for four years and then dental school is another four years."
Jonah: (silence)
Joey: "Jonah, are you awake?"
Jonah: (silence - he is quite asleep)
That is one way to put a boy to sleep.
To my boy and his future career choice:
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." - Colossians 3:23

Funny thing, I spoke at Ryan's class this morning.
Great story, thanks for sharing!
Yeah....Jonathan and I both spoke at Ryan's class...but Dentist totally tops Children's Pastor and Speech Pathologist in the "coolness factor." :-) I should have worn a lab coat!!! Next time.
