It's not all about you

I don't know if anyone else does this, but I often take advantage of car rides toward a destination to gently remind the kids of how they are to behave at said destination. So yesterday as we drove to Aunt Beth's house, I took advantage of the opportunity to remind the kids of a few things.

Let me admit, I was not really on my "A" game. Pretty much the best I could do was to say something along these lines:

"Kids, just remember that while we are there...(pause)...It's not all about you. Don't try to take the adults away from the table just so they can play with you. Let them eat and visit. Just remember that... (another pause)... it's not all about you."

I know. I'm rolling my eyes at myself now. Joey whispered under his breath right after I fumbled through the not all about you speech and said "good one Kelly."

There was a long pause from the kids at this point.

Then Jonah chimed in and said,

"Mom. It's not all about you either."

Consider me taught...and tickled.

(Then Joey appropriately started singing THIS song.)
