In 2007, my mom had this grand idea of making nativity costumes for all of the grandkids and getting them all together to pose for an adorable Christmas card photo. THIS was the result. That year, there were about 150 photos taken and not one of them showed all of the kids faces. The end result was actually a combination of two photos tastefully blended together with the help of photoshop.
In 2008, we thought it would be more fun to make a video of the entire process rather than just a single photo. THIS was the result. It's one of my favoritest videos ever. A-dor-a-ble.
In 2009, my mom wanted a professional photographer to take photos since she knew that three of her grandchildren would not be able to take part in the nativity play in future years due to the fact that they would be living in Kenya. So we invited Sarah to come along and take some amazing photos. Sarah worked her magic and the photos she took were to die for. You can view some of them HERE.
This year in 2010, the grandkids themselves began to take some pride in making this event into more of a play instead of just a cool photo opportunity. So the oldest cousin, Anna, decided to act as narrator and read a rather creative re-telling of the story while the other cousins acted it out. We were grateful to have a few extra extended family cousins join the party and fill the roles left vacant by Hudson, Jude and Isaac. But don't feel too sorry for Hudson, Jude and Isaac. They got to carry on the tradition this year with their Kenyan friends. The slideshow video they made from that event warmed our heart and knocked our socks off. Click over to their blog to see it if you have not yet. Understandably, there was much screaming and excitement amongst our family members when we reached the end of their slideshow. (You will understand when you watch to the end yourself.) :)
Anyway, without further delay, this year's Nativity Story video:
(Sorry for the poor sound quality and outrageously loud laughter from the audience around the 2:30 mark. Abigail's nonchalant "birthing" of baby Jesus really cracked us up.)
The video speaks for itself, but I'll share a few photos as well.
"Joseph" looks a little bored.
The audience enjoyed it.
Merry Christmas!
